Hi i just bought this plant at walmart for my chameleon and before i put it in his cage i just wanted to know if this plant is okay to use for him "Schefflera Gold Capella" This plant was pricey so i hope its okay to use . I check the tag and it says foliage color. Please let me know asap.

i am pretty sure all schefflera is safe. the gold caplera or what ever i think just means the leaves get a gold trimming around the edges. probably just a different variation on the species of plant.

Its safe, They are beautiful trees. I have two for my panther. I like the fact the leaves are very cup shapped for holding water longer than most, allowing humidity to stay high and for him to drink.

I know they are beatiful trees. Got a good deal on this tree =) Also before i put it in his cage, should i water it down or is it okay to just put it in there. Thanks again.

I'd advise you to wash the plant in water and dish soap , then rinse . You don't know what has recently been sprayed on the plant. Also repot if the soil appears to have perlite or vermiculite or fertilizer in it.

No all shefflera Is Not safe. Schefflera actinophylla is categorised as mildly toxic, (2,4) both dermaly (skin) and when ingested (vomiting, diahreah), Schefflera arboricola is not.

Its difficult to know from which species a particular cultivar is created. Personally if you can't find one specifically labelled S.arboriocola, I wouldnt risk it.
Ofcourse your animal may never eat it, its up to you.

Well today i wash out the plant with warm water i put in his cage. His poop was a little watery. Do you u think it has to do with the plant? Plus he doesn't even crawl on the plant he is more on his vines then bring on the plant?

He didn't eat the plant. He ate a superworm today (1) and his poop was all watery. yesterday he aint 4 crickets. Day before he ate 2 butterworms. Could it be his food ? Is it normally for a cham poop be watery?

He might need a bit more protein/fiber in his diet, try some roaches if you can.

If you use crickets, get them direct from the breeder, not a petstore,
cause they can have parasites.

These are all chameleon-safe plants, as I mentioned in the PM (Might help someone else too)
