Unfortunately it isn't exactly that easy with panther chameleons. Just because you place an order for 30 panther chameleons doesn't mean they're going to give them to you and you're not likely to find a fish exporter who is going to be able to get them for you. Because panther chameleons are CITES listed, they require CITES documents for legal export. Because Madagascar has a quota for how many can be exported, the annual quota for each species (and the CITES documents for those animals) is given out between the exporters there who request them (fish exporters probably aren't requesting their share of the panther chameleon quota). Those exporters who do get some of the quota aren't just going to send you 30 panthers. If you want panthers, you're going to have to buy large quantities of everything else (Mantellas, geckos, snakes, tree frogs, tomato frogs, etc.) to get any. Importing panthers from Madagascar isn't like calling up LLL and ordering one of this and two of that, you have to spend many thousands of dollars to get any panther chameleons.

I am beginning to grasp that. I didnt realise that until reading up on some legitimate people that have orders of a bunch of animals and in that you will find a couple here and there. Thanks for letting me know though.

Chris, the people I'm talking about are not exporters. They are importers only. Is there some responsibility on the importers side to be able to bring in CITIES documented animals other than the exporters providing the right docs, and of course the license?
I got out of Bettas. They are a pain in the you know what to breed and take up too much space. They can have well over 100 babies from one spawning and after about 1 month they all have to be separated into individual containers. It's not even really smart to keep your females together. Inevitably out of one spawn a few of the females will be terrors and shred all their tank mates. It's usually not known what females are going to be a problem until you wake up one morning to a bunch of dead fish.
Most breeders set up elaborate drip systems and jars on rain gutters allowing fresh filtered water to drip into the jars until it over flows down into the gutter then it's channeled back through the filter system. The problem with these setups is disease can spread throughout your entire breeding stock, killing off everyone. And the only other option is individual jars that require daily water changes.

The only responsibility the importer would have is to make sure the shipment is coming in with the right documents and that they have the right license. For an exporter to send a shipment with panther chameleons to an importer, however, the shipment would need to have thousands of dollars worth of other things. I'm quite sure the fish importer doesn't want to pay for or deal with thousands of dollars worth of frogs, geckos, snakes, etc., and unless googlez is interested in fronting $10k for a shipment of that stuff and then deal with housing and selling them all, you just aren't going to get panther chameleon shipments from Madagascar.

Yeah I got that. I just wanted to be clear that the people I'm talking about dealing with wouldn't care what they are bringing in. Trevor would have to make all those arrangements and spend what ever was necessary. And actually you don't pay for the animal through this person. That has to be dealt with through the exporter.
My option of using a trans shipper is simply a means to an end if you do not want to get the license. Of course like I said getting the license yourself would be much more simple.
It's the business of the Trans Shippers to bring in animals for people. Be it fish or what ever. I just happen to know them from fish. This is many a persons sole income. Like I said they charge on a per box basis. I simply would not trust them to deal with chams as they are a specialized animal with specific needs. Especially after being shipped trans continental.
But thanks for clearing that up. I wasn't really sure if the importer needed to do more than have the license when dealing with CITIES. I've never personally had to deal with them.

so do you guys mean to say it is like little branches. You have the exporter who gets them and ships them to importers. Then the importers sells to breeders and store owners, and then to the general public?
Therefore i would need to find and IMPORTER not an EXPORTER and talk to the importer about buying of his shipment right?
