Alright ill follow the rules of the forum. I usually dont ask for help as Ive been keeping different species of chameleon for the last 12 years or so. I recently just branched out to breeding pure locales of panthers as a fun little project and this male sambava that ate the perlite happens to be one of my favorite.
male sambava panther 9months old. I've had him only 3 months now. He's rarely handled and that's only when he's moved to his outdoor enclosure. He's fed daily a combo of super worms, Phoenix worms, dubia roaches, crickets, and wax worms. I rotate the selection so he never gets bored and it keeps him mentally stimulated. I only supplement (dust) once in a while with vitamans/calcium because I gut load most of my feeders with fresh fruits and veggies and bug burger/dinofuel and they get everything they need from that. All of my enclosures have auto misters that go off every hour to keep them well hydrated and humidity levels up. His stools are healthy and regular. His cage is a custom 7ft x3ftx3ft screen enclosure with a nice big ficus benjamina(no perlite). He has the usual basking light and reptisun flouro. Temps range from 92 to 80 in his enclosure. I live in california and the weathers gorgeous 9 months out of the year so I bring him out to a outdoor enclosure for a few hours almost every day. My chams live better then some people and they're health/colors really reflect their husbandry. Here's where I screwed up. I have a large bamboo grove I put my chams on sometimes while Outside and just so happens there was a few granules of perlite on the surface of the soil at it's base. My sambava shot one that was about the size of a dime and swallowed it before I could do anything. If I doesn't make it through his system I will be extremely bummed!!!! I'm open to any and all opinions/suggestions.Thanks for looking!!
