Anybody has ever try this product called: Virosan?
I happened to get a sample for the 24 ounces.
I wonder whether it's safe for chameleon's cage.

Any comments? Pro, contra?

I use Healthy Habitat, it is 100% all natural cleaner/deodorizer. I have also used nolvasan from my wifes work.

Howdy Dodolah,

It's pretty safe to use. It's safe enough that it is used as a vet wound wash. Keep it away from mucus membranes and eyes. Note that it doesn't kill parasites like coccidia (tough little boogers!) There may be some confusion about Virosan (chlorhexidine gluconate) and Nolvasan (chlorhexidine diacetate) because some sellers talk about them as if they are the same exact product. You can use those items almost interchangeably but they are not the same... I'll not go down that discussion path tonight....

Sorry I didn't point out my gallon jug of Nolvasan in my chameleon room when you were here! It's enough to make about 144 gallons of properly diluted product. I think I paid about $40 for it. Anybody who wants to stop by can buy some ounces of it from me at my cost. 1 ounce makes a gallon. These days, I use it when I need to sanitize an area that can't handle a 1:10 mixture of bleach:water. I use the bleach solution since it has the best chance of killing any potential parasites on surfaces. The chameleons are kept in their outside enclosures until things are cleaned, bleached and rinsed.

so do you recommend spraying it while he's inside?

I think they claim it's safe.

Howdy,

The chlorhexidine based products are safe enough to spray an enclosure bottom while the chameleon is up at the top. You just don't want him breathing in any mist droplets since it can be irritating to mucus membranes and eyes etc. After leaving it in contact with surfaces for 10 minutes or more, you can either rinse or let dry completely. It's residue will continue to have antibacterial/anti-viral effects.
