I wouldn't be too alarmed. Poop isn't always super consistent.
If you have no reason to believe that your cham has parasites, the fecal doesn't have to be done right off the bat. HOWEVER, if your cham is wild-caught (WC) you most certainly need to get a fecal done regularly. If the chameleon was bought as captive-bred (CB) and you have kept it indoors in a regularly cleaned cage...in my opinion...you only need to do a fecal once a year. Keep in mind, even if the cham is CB, if it has eaten wild insects, been exposed to other potentially infected animals, has had a change in behavior or POOP CONSISTENCY...you'll want to get a fecal done.
Jessica is correct in her advice on the fecal...if you're here asking us, chances are you'll feel much better if you just scoop that stuff up, run to the vet's, and pay the $15-30 for a float and smear fecal.
