Hi all, I'm new here and dealing with my baby veiled Gilbert who is probably between 3-4mo. I've had him for a month and a half but he's still pretty small so I suspect I got him a bit too early (from Petco :/) any ways- Gil eyes were totally swollen shut a few weeks ago and he was just doing really awful over all. We went to the vet and he had a vitamin A deficiency. We got anti-inflammatory as well as antibiotic eye drops and we've been giving him liquid calcium as well for about a week now. I've gotten much better about using the proper vitamins and supplements as well as gut loading the crickets and overall he looks so much healthier, appetite is much bigger and swelling is completely gone aside from when he cleans out his eyes.
However, he's still rubbing his eye on the artificial branch (also from Petco) in his viv and I'm worried that it's doing more harm than good and little flecks of the branch might be getting in his eye which might strike agitation again? I've upped the misting and even though he hates it I try and mist him a bit each day too. Are there alternative types of branches that I should look in to that won't agitate his eye when he rubs or am I over analyzing the rubbing too much? Thanks!
