Routine health care?

Hiya,

Just wondering if there is any routine healthcare requirements for the average cham? (apart from supplementing and such).

Do they require worming treatments or any other such routine healthcare? (to add onto my MBD management costs )

Fecals are recommended routinely I know to test for parasites. Chameleons can have parasites but show no symptoms.

yeah I was thinking now that he's doing much better than when I got him, I'll get him wormed (cheaper and easier for me just to worm him rather than pay for faecal testing THEN worm him!)He came to me in a state hence why I want him wormed now - but soon (2-3 weeks!!) will be in a new enclosure with live plants and stuff so obviously risks of parasite infection there. - how often should this be done?

I've managed to calculate a dose of fenbendazole for him, just need to work out what it works out as in the liquid... no doubt a completely pathetic amount for my pathetic 47g chameleon

If you don't do a test to see what parasites the chameleon has you may not be treating all the parasites...or you may be treating it for parasites when it has none.

Would it harm him to treat him with fenbendazole if he has no parasites? It's a good all rounder that will get rid of anything that he may have (theres a lot less weird and wonderful parasites this side of the pond). And then because his exposure and chances of reinfection would be minimal, maybe treating twice a year as a precaution?
