What specific tank would you recommend for a leopard gecko?

Oh I dont think they are starter reptiles, like I said, I am sure ill be stuck caring for whatever she ends up with.
Its great to see her being into reptiles though, so I am trying to embrace it. She watches that lady on youtube with the gator, and the snakes. So she wants big snakes and a alligator.
I may mention a Ball Python to her, my wife is kind of anti snakes lol.

No one is trying to crush your dreams. We are just trying to tell you the reality of the cost of these animals. Start saving money for a proper setup and do it right. Start saving for vet bills and other surprises that might come up. I wish I had started that before I got into this. We just want you to do it right from the beginning.

Snake Discovery? I think I know exactly which lady your talking about XD. I don't know if you have many pets, but you could give one of them to her, and then if she stops caring for it, it isn't a whole new animal you are stuck with.

I'm was kidding. I don't plan on getting it anytime soon, I am not impulse buying it, which some people seem to think. I'm planning on getting him in 1-2 months. So do you have a specific tank for a leopard gecko you would suggest?

Ive never kept leopard geckos. So I’m not totally sure what tank is best for them. I personally like Front opening tanks like Exo Terras. I’m sure lots of others here can tell you what you will need.

A leopard gecko can be ok in a 20long.
It does not always need to cost a lot, you can definitely do it cheaper. You need to know which animal and what its critical factors are. Like you don't need a fancy hood or expensive heat light. But you do need the temp and cycles and diet to be correct.
All that said generally if you put more into a setup the animal becomes more enjoyable.

I have an 8 yr old. And that's why I have a beardie
. Now he wants an Indian Ring neck parrot. We already have a Macaw that plays with him. How much more bird can you want.

Tried. She don't want a ball or a corn. She wants a Burmese or Reticulated lol.

Between a beardie and a reticulated... its a no-brainer. Reticulated pythons are REALLY hard to take care of, and grow to 350 lbs. To dissuade her form the reticulated, say she'll have to watch pigs get eaten alive by the python. If she is a little squeamish that might work.

The 'minimum' cage size for a Leo is 10 gallons. In my opinion that is far too small, for an adult. I keep mine in 15 gallons. Would keep them in 20's, but one is stunted, and one is half blind. I keep babies in 10's. The exoterras are more expensive and thy have front open doors. If you want that, go for it, but it will cost you more and I find it unnecessary.
They aren't necessarily expensive if you find the best prices, but I would say you wouldn't spend much less than 150-200, at a minimum. This isnt including the gecko itself.
I could discuss prices and care with you in PM if you'd like? Im all about saving money (provided its not costly to the animal).

i mean, if you look on craigslist you can find some cheaper supplies but i dont advise getting another pet. your best bet at the moment is to get a plant or something for your chameleon. the needs of the animal should always come before the wants of a human. just because you really really want one does not mean you should get one. especially if you dont have the proper tank for it yet.
you should look at it this way, save up and estimate the cost of both animals for the next 3 months, after you have that money, save for the tank and animal. then after you have that money get the tank set up and running for a few days then buy your animal last. its a hard step. i know. And take the other members opinions into account, just because your young doesnt mean you cannot do it, im a junior. it can be hard but you can do it.

They are funny little creatures to own and are normally very friendly, along with having simple care. Though, just like any other animal, vet bills, food and cage changes/upgrades are things to keep in mind.
