hey guys i just got my Ambilobe Panther Chameleon yesterday and i am super stoked on him. he is 6 months old and looks really healthy. its my first chameleon so i wanted to make this post so you guys can tell me if im doing anything wrong.

i want Rocko to stay as healthy as possible. so heres a video of my setup ( http://youtu.be/JN2-4DQoqe8 ) and if i am doing anything wrong pls let me know :) thanks everyone :D

the video is still being uploaded so please come back later in the day and hopefully the video will work :)

Beautiful chameleon man! Love his burgundy coloration!:D

Few suggestions on enclosure for ya! First youll probably want to come up with some sort of drainage system to get rid of that dish to avoid dead feeders and it will make like a lot easier.

Second, you should add some more horizontal perches in there so he has a large variety of places to thermoregulate his temp, and some more foliage would be appreciated as well so he can hide when he's hunting. (they like to think they are extremely sneaky and invisible lol).

Most importantly, lighting. Are you using just a basking bulb or is it a mercury vapor? If its a mercury you need to hang that bad boy away from the cage to avoid burns. If you don't have UVB you should go for a Reptisun 5.0 linear tube light, avoid the coil compact ones there have been claims of causing blindness.

Just make sure you have a good digital thermometer and hygrometer and not an analog POS. that's about all I can think of right now.. I'll PM you if I think of something else.. Your Cham rocks.. Your setup rocks.. You rock..

Stay gold man.

thanks alot buddy!!!! i love the feed back.

about my lighting. i got a exo-terra 125w solar glow bulb and yes it does have mercury vapor in it. i searched the bulb up online and it covers prty much all kinds of uvb/uva and is good for preventing metabolic bone disease. ohhh and i got an extremely deep dome for the bulb, so i dont think its gonna burn Rocko.

again thanks alot! everyone on this site is so polite its amazing :)

ill make more videos soon :D

Congrats on the pick up! He's very pretty and appears to be healthy! You mentioned on the video picking up the supplements tomorrow and that you'd give him d3 and multi's 1 per week. Every cham is different, but most users will supp with d3 and mutli's twice per month.

Also, can you describe or take a pic of the enclosure? It looks like you have a bookcase converted? Just wondering how you did that! :)

yeah i took out some shelves out and his cage fit in there perfectly. is it a bad idea??? he still gets alot of light coming through the window throughout the day
