Rocko looks ashy

Well, Ive used alot of different shed-aid products over the years and I never found any of them did much better than plain old water/humidity boost. Great marketing ploy though, Stay tuned for Nivea for lizards! :D

Yeah i think the showering method works well for pre shed issues. I hate using anything unnatural like shed aid except as a last resort. I was interested in the antiseptic treatment though. Always like to hear about alternative options for our chams. Just in case.

Donna I love the branches in your enclosure! Your panther looks a lot like the one I have in my care right now. Do you have some current pics? I'd love to see what he looks like now.

Thanks Alicia, here is Rocko still in the rough. I've accepted the fact that Rocko is a cross breed and will probably never have a flaming jacket. He is so laid back and has a great personality I love him to pieces and he's special. That's what cross breeding does and maybe he can be the 'poster' child.

Update on Rocko - he starting to get his green color back, these pics don't show it though. Here's what I did:
1-25-10 Gave him 1 capsule (liquid) Vit A - 8000 I.U. (he weighs 191 grams)
2-16-10 Sprayed him with ZooMed Repti Shedding Aid
2-19-10 He shed
2-26-10 Hornworms
3-16-10 Dusted feeders with NutriBac df
Lately, lots of sunshine
On 12-28-09 the vet dewormed him even though his fecal was negative. That's when all this really started.
He eats, drinks and poops fine.
I hope it's just a phase and he will continue to improve. If anyone has any thoughts or ideas, I'd love to hear them.

I would never give a cham medication that is not needed.

Exactly, I vowed after I lost Lola that I would learn as much as I could so the next time I "have" to go to the vet, I'll be better educated.

Donna have u tried hornworms for Rocko? Ive not seen a cham that did not like them. They will help keep him moving too since he loves supers so much. Also maybe try some grasshoppers just a few. Then try to sneak in crix slowly. Ive fooled some of mine that were piky in the past.

Yes, he just went through 25 HW since 2-26. Now he is on silkworms.

I just took these 5 min ago while he was sleeping, not very colorful.

I'm not sure what he is. He was sold to me as a female and his photo albums shows some freaky different colors. He is a year old this month and honestly, I think he was a cross bred and the breeder didn't know crap.

The solid white lateral line and his color make me think Ank. He may just be slow to color up? Now that hes eating some diff feeders he may just surprise you. After all hes already suprised you once. lol

True, he's different allright, but I swear he is a sweetheart. I'm going to spray him again with the shed stuff tonight and see what happens.
