Many dart frog folks make their own out of Great stuff foam and elbow grease and creativity-- for about 50.00... if you are up for that. LOL

I do love the look too!

Cheers!

Yea I see some people that have made them and they look awesome. Just wasn't sure if anyone made them to sell. Thank you for the links much appreciated

Give it a try you'll do great. I didn't make one for the chameleon we are getting Tuesday but I have used a lot of Great Stuff Foam for walls with my other hobby (Halloween) and I am sure you can successfully make a fantastic wall. GSF holds up incredibly well. When the walls are not used for decorating they are stored outside all year round uncovered. From humid summers to cold winters they are holding up really well after 3 years.

Doto that is amazing and I am with you on that I am a HUGE Halloween fan its my favorite holiday and I have dubbed it as MY holiday haha lol

Thanks for the compliment. I spend a lot of time on Halloweenforum.com and there's a number of tutorials on various things which I combined into making the walls. Layering, the paints to add depth, antiquing, dry brushing.....Lots of stuff which translates well in other areas. If you ever head to the Halloween forum you'll find it is a very supportive group very similar to the chameleonforum. I use the same screen name there too.

None the less be confident you will do a great job. Dark colours in the crevices, and lighter on top to add depth with some dry brushing highlights. Perhaps some tea staining if you would like to simulate water running in a certain area down the rocks over a long period of time. You'll do awesome. Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Havefun doing it and always wear gloves when spraying GSF. It sticks to everything and stains your skin.

Oh yeah when I got the Tapatalk all
App it automatically put me in the Halloween forum. That's awesome and you did a great job.

What is GSF and the painting doesn't worry me at all. The carving the foam and actually making the "rock" worries me lol. Also knowing the cham safe materials.

Great Stuff Foam is awesome, but make sure you get the right kind; most of them contain mold and mildew inhibitors that can leach out and affect your animals and plants!

I use the Great Stuff Pond foam; it's a little more expensive but safe for animals and fish. Plus it's black, which I think makes a better base for rocks and planting backgrounds.

I'd also recommend using a really good low/no VOC waterproof sealant over the Great Stuff Foam; it will last a year or two getting constantly wet, like being misted in a cham enclosure, but it will eventually start to weaken if not sealed against water soaking into it's matrix. Plus it will protect any paint job you do. Acrylic paints actually work pretty well, and are more or less non-toxic (debatable), but water will make them peel off if you don't seal it.
