Ok, This post is for those that have to leave their Chameleons for a few days at a time. There was a post earlier from "RACHELK" asking about leaving for a few days and wanted a way to get by without a Misting System.
So was looking for a way to efficiently water their already Drip Cup trained Chameleon. This would water for a couple days. for 1 or 2 Chams.
I'm gonna post some pic's of somthing that works fullproof and I put it togather in my Garage in seconds to show a simple way to accomplish several dripping fills each day over several days. You can use your imagination and set one custom for yourself. These pic's are to give you the idea.
All this can be done for less that $50 dollars in parts and your time?
Ok, Picture #1 Shows a digital timer that was purchased at walmart for 12 dollars. and can turn on and off 6 times in one day. for this instructional. We will turn on/off for 2 times at 2 minutes each time. (or depending on how long or less it takes to fill your dripper?) Also pictured in that pic is a 2 gallon container you can use as an Idea for a container for your pump to be placed in.
Picture # 2 shows the Demonstration setup. Your dripper container, (the red one there), the Pump cantainer, (I used a clear one for this demo so you can see the pump in there), And Also a dripper adjustment tip & clear aquatics tubing, so you can control the speed the cup is filled.( the timer used here only goes to a minimum of 1 minute, so you can adjust the control to allow the drip cup to fill in any time longer that 1 minute. but dont do this so slow it puts uneeded strain on your pump.) The pump was purchased at a pet store for 18 dollars. the rest of the parts are probubly within 10 dollars total.
Picture #3 shows in this setup, that I filled the dripper to 4 and 1/2 inches in 2 minutes with a fairly wide open setting on the adjusting tip. (so my timer in this demo filled the cup to an adaquite leval in 2 minutes allowed by the timer.) Set this for 2 to 3 running applications per day? and your dripper practically could drip most the day!
Lastly and not pictured here would be your catch suficient enough to catch several days of drained water.
Ok desided to post another Pic of a way to drip into a plant, then out its catch into your waist cantainer & out of the cage.
This is my demo So dont mind this quick setup. I put this togather quickly in my garage also just to give you the Idea. So the last picture demanstrates a dripper going into the plant soil, then into the plants containment base. Drill a hole big enough for some more aquarium tubing in the midway point of the plant catch plate rim. Then run the tube out of your cage into a large enough waist container for several days of your dripper running. and thats it!
