revising of considering...

It’s been four months I been inactive here…

On my first post I made I was considering to have one chamaeleo Calyptratus and I was considering to place the enclosure in the closet but I was told by someone here that closet have restricted air flow now I am wondering, would if I consider taking out the closet door and allowing to open more floor space to my room and consider having a cabinet closet, to keep my clothing and accessories in their. Would that eliminate the restricted air flow? would that allow more air flow? Also my window is right next to my closet, I could open the window to allow even more air flow.

i guess thats ok, but why not place a cage stand near the window and let the cham have a nice view:D, in my opinion i wouldnt like any of my pets stuck in a closet, except bugs:p

plus you still need plug outlets for lighting, spraying the cage with a mister, have live plants to water (veileds and all chams like live plants), i rather place the feeder insects in the closet rather than the cham, unless you have no space....but then why get a cham when you have no "proper " space to place it...

Is that the only place you have for the cage?.I am taking it that you are getting a screen cage and not glass of course. Yes the air flow might be somewhat restricted because a closet is closed in on three sides. If you take the doors off though I think it would be ok. There are people who house their chams in all glass with a screen top. It is not recommended, but they survive and the air flow is way less minimal than in a screen enclosure. It might just be kind of depressing for your chameleon to be able to see out through the front only. I mean the only other view will be drywall!

I live in a suburbs where the house is small and my room is TINY which I hate my room so much. I have restricted space because of my bed and the TV( I’m dieing to get rid of my TV. I barley watch anything on the TV) stand and my turtle enclosure(this area along with the TV stand area is the site I planned on expanding my reptile collection where I planned on building the mutli-enclosure). The closet area is the only suitable place for the Chamaeleo Calyptratus enclosure

I was considering to have my parent to invest a custom glass terrarium from Protean Terrarium Design.
In your view how would the chameleon react to the color of garnet red for the wall?
But either way I’m planning a rock back round for the sides of the enclosure

Your chameleon will need a screen enclosure. Most chameleons do not like the color red. I would wait to get a chameleon until you have a place to keep it besides the closet.

i agree, if you truly care about getting a cham, then wait until you get the space, i waited a few years before i got my veied, and wat i did with that timeframe was researchng, looking for reliable products, picking a cham, and finding the space....:) patience, you and your cham will be happier in the long run.:)

Here my last consideration...

Well their one area I could place the enclosure. I have a stand next to my bed which is currently housing my Betta and soon to be Rhampholeon Temporalis. I could have a new stand and house two species in their own enclosure. My betta would be placed in a new home. Plus I have better air flow at this area. My main draw back is my wall. My wall color is "garnet red"

I understand the reason to have a screen enclosure, as they provide better air ventilation for any arboreal species. But I think it best if I used glass with a combo of screen, I fell their more pros for me of having this type of enclosure, as I can provide the humidity they require as I live in a dry environment. I read here some keepers had success, especially keepers from Europe region. while the post here didn't say veileds, but I believe this can apply for this species but I read a keeper kept a panther in something I suggest would be good for me.

But if that area is alone isn't perfect for a Chamaeleo Calyptratus then I wont consider of owning one, this not not including to some who view this controversial suggestion I made about my derision of a glass and mesh combo enclosure.
