sure signs its time to retire your breeder females

Im curious what you guys look for.

For me I retire my females after 6 clutches, but Im hearing others say they can get more.

It depends on the species. In my experience, you can retire a veiled but I have never been able to stop a panther from continuing to lay infertile eggs....for example.

Each female will be different. But I usually watch for the stress or amount of time needed for her to recover after laying the eggs. If she experiences no problems bouncing back, then I will keep breeding her, but if I notice problems with her recovering from laying eggs, or she is slow to recover, then she will be retired.
