My recommendations would be:
Food - not related to your current worries but consider some more variation. Silkworms are very nutritious and good for hydrating.
Gutloading: read sandrachameleon's blog. Try making your own dry gutload most ingredients can be sourced from a local health food shop.
Supplementation: I'd use plain calcium (no d3) every day, like you are currently. I'd then get a calcium with d3 to be used every other week and a multivitamin also for every other week.
Fecal: what colour are the urates? Should be white.
Cage: consider investing in an all screen cage. Standard seems to be a 2'x2'x4' reptibreeze. Ventilation is REALLY important.
Temperature: could possibly be a little warmer, about 32 C (at the basking spot) is good for a male panther 1 year and older.
Drainage: also very important. Stagnant water is a breeding ground for bacteria. This will inevitably lead to a respiratory infection. Check out the enclosures section of the forum for ideas.
Best thing to do is to get an appointment with a good vet. If your buddy does have an RI he will be able to give him some antibiotics to help it clear.
If I haven't been clear with anything, please ask and I will clarify. I'd be very interested to see some pics of your tank setup.
