Respiratory Infection... bubble over feces?

So i just learned my new cham (only had for a week now) has a respiratory infection (not exactly positive that is what it is... he has a vet appt tomorrow morning) but i am very worried, i have heard him what sounded like an exhale a couple times, but no popping or wheezing nothing dramatic. He has thick saliva gooping out the side of his mouth, and has bubbles on the side of his mouth. He is eating and drinking fine, moving around and exploring as if every things normal..although his poop does indicate (a tad orange) he is dehydrated... but there was a big bubble around it? is it extra mucus he is just getting rid of? will this ever go away??

Welcome to the forums. Where do you live in FL? Do you have a vet with chameleon experience? I'm not sure about the poop but I've seen my guys have poop like that before in the past but they didn't have an RI. I'm attaching a couple of links about RI and for things you can do until you get him to the vets.

Thanks! and yes i do live in florida, and no that is what i am about to discover tomorrow ( in trying to find an exotic vet ) he needs attention asap; but he stays on my lanai under the awning, since he is obviously not getting the suns UV, i have a UVB bulb and a monsoon rainfall system to spray every two hours for 16 seconds, humidity is perfect (florida weather) he not only gets the bubbles but when basking he opens his mouth just a little bit and when he eats i see the string of sticky/thick saliva... worried!

Where do you live in FL? I might be able to recommend a chameleon vet.

I live in Fort Myers Florida.. That would be great! Also the links you sent me suggested upping his temps (i already did) and to use a warm mist humidifier, we only have a cool mist, and its easter so everything is closed could a cool mist humidifier work just as good to up his humidity to 80%?
Thanks for your help :)

You would need a warm mist humidifier. Here's an experienced vet in Clearwater if you are willing to drive that far.

Thank you for the information, i am not quite sure if I can make it all the way out there so local will have to do. I just put him in the bathroom with the shower on hot. He seemed very content and relaxed and even fell asleep. hope that helped open up his lungs

If you bought him from a reputable dealer, he should stand by what he sold you. Your chameleon didn't develop an URI in a week. Call the guy about the issue and try your best to treat at home. If things don't improve in a couple of days, trade him for another. You shouldn't have to spend a lot of money on a chameleon and then have to run him over to the vet for expensive treatment.

Having said that, URI are pretty common and easily treated. As long as he's eating and drinking I'd save my money and treat him at home. Simply take a Q-tip and twist it in the mucus with your fingers to collect all the mucus in his mouth/throat. Its sticky, nasty stuff so it comes out pretty easily. Don't be afraid to stick the Q-tip deep in his throat to clean the mucus. Antibiotics are a good idea but honestly, this is something that can be treated without medication if you're in the early stages - especially if you clean the mucus from his mouth once or twice a day and keep him warm. You have low to mid 80s this week, get him out in the morning sun and keep him out all day. Night time temps while he's sick in the high 70s/low 80s (keep the room dark while he sleeps, warm the air with a space heater). Keep the cage dry and he'll probably be doing great by Friday.
