is there any difference between the two 5.0 or 10.0 bulbs from those manufacturers? is one better than another? is there a way to measure or find out when they are no longer putting out enough uva/uvb light for my chams benefit?

i hear to not use the 10.0 bulbs on a Cham.!?

10.0 is too strong for a cham, use a 5.0. there are UVB light meters which you can use. I have never used one, I just replace the bulbs every 6 to 9 months. I have used both the reptisun and reptiglo and have not had problems with either, so I would say it's a matter of personal preference.

Just wanted to make sure ;)
Repti Glo 5.0 should be fine, at least if he is free-ranged outside in the sun from time to time.
All UV-bulbs for reptiles have huge differences in there UV-Output in Quality and Quantity so you need to make sure to either use a Osram Vitalux or let him bask in the natural sunlight (without a window between).

Has anyone tried those Acadia bulbs? They are rated at 6% uvb instead of 5%. They are linear tube fl. but after looking at them they are about 1/3 more expense per bulb than a reptisun. Just wondering whos tried them and why they cost more? Any benefits from these vs reptisun?

I have used both reptisun as well as repti-glo 5.0 tubes. Both are fine, but repti-glo has a more unnatural color than reptisun. I remember them to be really blue/purpleish.

Yeah they are advertised as being the best new bulb out of Europe. I wondered because you guys are usually ahead of us over here at least tech
speaking. When I was into salt tanks it always seemed like the europeans were ahead of us over here when it came to lighting and protein skimming.

Arcadia are Awesome...They hold their UV a & B spectrum longer. Some reports say twice as long. So they actually cost less to use. True... I am a little bias. :p
They are Unconditionally Guaranteed. Period.
Cheers, Todd

PS. SORRY to hi-jack. just couldn't help it... sometimes I get over excited.

hey Scott, I am ordering Arcadia's from LYR, in the next week. I am happy to guinea pig and post results.
I use LYR 6.2 uv meter so I will have accurate readings. I have read alot of great info over the past couple months about these bulbs.
so I hope between my LED from Todd and the Arcadia my cages will be set
Anne
