Reptisun T5 Ho hood problems

My uvb (22" reptisun 5.0) light blew out this morning, probably when the timer kicked on. It seems to have destroyed the hood, too, as the replacement bulb didn't work until I bought a new hood. Nor did the 10.0 bulb that came with the hood.

The bulb only lasted three weeks, maybe a month, which I have read happens sometimes, but is it normal for the Reptisun hood to break so soon, too. I wondered if I sprayed it while misting, but my wife said it wasn't wet.

Just wondering if anyone has had similar light fixture issues, or if I should consider z different uvb light and/or hood.

I run 4 hoods for the last 10+ years. I have had 1 hood die. If you a bit savy you can replace the ballast and get it back up and running again. But no they should be forever hoods. Its not like the old 90's T12 days were you would replace the starter every 5 years or so.

Thanks. Its good to know that it seems like a rare occurrence, because I can't afford a new hood every month. Lol

A good Fulham Pony will run you $40 and will run even the dual 54 watt 4 footers. Your grand kids will inherit it.
A Triad AccuStart for dual sub 36 watt is $25 or less. Triad has been making things with coils in them since tube radios.

After that there is the china brand(odds are what came in the hood anyway) for $15.

On a side note LOL, the low power non HO T5(very popular cubical style in the EU) ballast from Fulham is called the "sugar cube".
