I have a screen cage 2x2x4 with a hood fixture that holds two 24" uv bulbs. I currently am using 2 reptisun 10.0 bulbs. Is this OK? Or should I switch to 5.0s? Is there any harm in using the 10.0s?

im using 4.0 for 2x2x4 cage and his doing fine just make sure he can get at list 5-6" close to the light thats all . and i have no idea if 10.0 is risky or not

i would definatly switch to one 5.0 bulb, you dont need two unless you have a ton of foliage/plants. 10.0 are usually recomended for desert reptiles like bearded dragons ect...

Hey BMF, you dont need 10.0 and you dont need 2 UVB bulbs regardless of foliage. The UVB should be 6-10" away from the basking area so your cham will get UVB while he basks. If you are using 10.0 you need to raise it above the enclosure at least 3-4 inches. I had one 18" 10.0 on my 35Wx24DX46T cage and it was too much. It will cause eye issues over time. If you have a double fixture, put a 6500K flourescent in the other side for the plants. Just my experience. You might want to check this link. It has good info on UVB lighting and its effects.

Too much can hurt

Too much UVB can hurt the cham. 10's are for desert dwellers that are used to more direct harsher sunlight. 1 5.0 should be sufficient so long as your cham has unobstructed basking several inches under it. Use the other for full spectrum or heat if possible.

Also, if possible, give your cham as much direct sunlight (unfiltered) as you can when the weather allows. This is beneficial both physically and psychologically.
