Reptifogger for Panther?

Hi, so recently I purchased a Repti Fogger for my 8 month old panther miyagi. He tends to run away from the spray bottle when I use it. I also use a dripper, which he will drink from, but it floods the cage so I'm not very fond of it. When I got the Repti fogger, he seems to really enjoy it. I just want to make sure he's staying hydrated, so will this work for him?

I completely understand your dilemma, but unfortunately, a repti fogger will not provide adequate hydration for your panther. Most chameleons do not like to be sprayed with water..not just yours. Have you tried heating the water up in the spray bottle prior to use? This helps dramatically.

Yes, I have used warmer water... same result. I suppose the dripper will have to do for now. I forgot to mention that humidity is another major reason in which I purchased the fogger. Will it help raise the humidity in his cage?

Absolutely, it will help with humidity. What are your humidity levels at right now? Do you have live plants in the enclosure?

Humidity is around 60 to 70 with the fogger on, but I think its like 30 or so with it off. He did have a live plant, but he trampled and destroyed it so I had to toss it. Don't remember the exact type of plant. He has two fake plants right now.

Okay, is he in a screen enclosure?

Yes, it is screen. I can't quite remember the exact dimensions of it, but it is suitable for a single chameleon.

I would pack it with pothos, because they are so good at maintaining humidity in screen enclosures. Also, wrapping a shower curtain around three sides of the enclosure will really help with humidity as well. I would recommend getting a mistking or an a similar automated misting system. If you can set that up in his enclosure where it is consistently pointing at a certain area, this will allow him to learn where he needs to go to avoid contact with the water.

Just curious, are you using a pressurized spray bottle or a regular non-pressurized spray bottle? The pressurized spray bottles create a much finer mist than their non-pressurized counterparts. This finer mist coupled with warm water can make a pretty big difference in how your Chameleon reacts during misting sessions.

The spray bottle I'm not too sure about. on very rare occasions he'll be fine with getting sprayed, but he mostly drinks from the dripper and gets his humidity from the fogger. He's very strange sometimes...
