Reptifogger as a only water source??

I have the Reptifogger for my 3 month old Veiled Chameleon who has an all screen cage.
I would cut a hole on the top of the cage and have the fogger hose drop down from the hole. I notice that the fogger has some water buildup that forms dropletts of water that drip from the hose down into the enclosure.

My question is can i use those droplets as an only water source if they drip onto the leaves of the Terrarium?

Im using distilled water for the fogger, does that make a difference such as lack of minerals and is the water formed by the vapor harmful to drink?

Thanks in advanced :D

You can actually use tap water if you let it sit out in a container for 24 hours. I haven't had any problems with my panthers doing this.

In short, I would not recommend this as your only water source.

1st issue. Mold and bacteria can and will build up inside the hose/tube that the fog is coming out of. If you do not clean this out regularly your chameleon will be at great risk of becoming sick. A respiratory infection is not something you want to play around with a chameleon.

Your chameleon is still very young and he will need lots of water as he grows the first year.

thanks for the quick reply!

ok so Ill just stay with the old fashion ice in a bowl with a hole, and bowl on bottom to catch the water. Im just looking for a alternative to having to change the water bowl every morning, especially if Im running late and I dont have time to change it. but I knew she would be high maintainance when I bought her :D

for the repti fogger DONT USE TAP WATER. mine broke because of it ONLY DISTILLED. seriously please dont ignore this

yuup, i did the same with the reptifogger.... used TAP and only 4 days later it broke down. i returned it for a new one and from then on, pure distilled water. how do you clean the reptifogger? will soap or cleaner mess up the plate inside that makes the fogg?

Cleaning

You can use distilled white vinegar to clean it. If you use tap water and it stops working, you can just disolve the buildup off with the vinegar. It will work again, but this is a pain to do constantly, distilled is best. Use a dripper, and misting to give your cham water.
