hi all i'm new and had a question.. I'm getting a cage in prep for a new member of the fam. the cage will be 2ft x 2ft x4ft. my Q is regarding misting and if there is a way i can set up the mister so i dont have to use a background to protect the wall? if i do need to have a background i was thinking if getting 2 exo terra 24x24 background to use.. and is anyone using this setup that has any advise regarding drainage. i just purchested a water tray and hope this will work..

I don't use a background but many members do, I have seen multiple methods including just simple mylar plastic cut into the exact measurements. I use a mistking with dual nozzles, one pointed higher, one pointed mid cage. With the fine mist i have no problems or need for backing. Some of my friends whom use the monsoon switch out those nozzles for the mistkings. For drainage I would search the forum, there are many great threads to help you.

You can wrap a clear, plastic shower curtain or painters plastic around the back and sides of the cage to protect the walls. The drainage tray will help collect water that could damage the floor. I will warn you that the reptibreeze are notorious for rusting.

do you know of a way to combat the rust?

I'm not sure you can, I had one reptibreeze and the hinges rusted. You can't replace the hinges unless you take the ones that come on them which are hard to remove and replace the hardware with better hinges.

That is correct, you can go to a hardware store and upgrade the hinges. The screen also rusts badly. I used a wire brush and scrapped off the rust on the screen and re-sprayed with black No VOC spray paint. At this point they have all been retired and all I have left are LLLreptile, DIYcages, and custom builds. The screens on these brands never rust. The hinges do mildly, but not all that bad.

Adding a moisture barrier to the reptibreeze is like adding fuel to the fire. It seems to speed up the rust on them.

Some members use exoterra monsoon with no problem. However they cost much the same as mistking or aquazamp and in my opinion they are far superior. I have had 3 monsoons that have had dodgy timers. I now have a mistking which I like. Just thought I would chip in.:)

when you say DODGY TIMERS what exactly do you mean?

The monsoon is a very nice looking mister. The in built timer can spray anything from 4 to 60 seconds every 1 to 24 hrs. However if I want it to spray ideally every 4 hrs it will only spray every 2 hrs. It seems to only want to spray every 2 hrs. I kept sending it back. I had 3 and they all had same problem.:D
