Reptarium Bottom Ideas

I ordered some Reptariums as some cheap housing for the babies to get them out of the bins. I decided not to order the Softray bottoms, sooooo......

What ideas are out there or in use as to what to use as the bottom for the Reptariums???

I am thinking of running out to HD or Lowes to get something like an underbed storage tote or one of the concrete mixing pan-things.

Hey Juli.

I actually like your idea of the concrete mixing pan.

What I do with the reptariums is spread out a sheet of plastic and lay down two layers of paper towels. I change the paper towels daily, if not twice daily. It is a pain in the butt, but it works. I only do that with the little reptariums though, the larger ones need drainage systems, well duh haha!

ive used rigid styrofoam and shaped a trough in it very messy but cheap you could even cover with some thinset and color to make it nice lookin.

i use the tops of the cheap plastic tubs or rubbermade (the stearlite brand from target, publix etc). we use a lot of tubs (big enough for a kid to take a bath in) so the lids were available.

That is what I am using at the moment...But would like something a little deeper. The softrays are such a pain! I use them on some of the cages, but crud gets jammed between the liner and the bars!

currently under my reptarium I have a rubbermaid with a hole cut in the center to drain into with a large hole on the lid for the water to evaporate out of.

Hi Juli,
I just finished mine today. I used a concrete tub that was just big enough to put a 16" and an 18" cage next to each other, then we put a drain tube in the bottom corner. I found a light fixture grid (small squares for 4 light flourescent fixtures) at Lowes in the Building dept not the lighting dept) We cut it to fit over the top and I'm going to support it underneath in a few spots. I'm going to set it up tomorrow. Now my baby panther can move into his "big boy cage". I can take pictures if you want. Hope that helps. By the way, not all concrete tubs are the same size, I had to go measure a few.:)
