I just had a quick question about repashy ' s lo d. If anyone who is familiar with the product please chime in. I looked at the d3 content on it and it is double the content in my normal sticky tongue farms. My question is, I see a lot of people on here saying they use it on an every feeding basis, is that safe? I really like how well the repashy sticks to my feeders.
Thanks in advance
Scott

Scott, I have always wondered the same thing as the forum standard is d3 twice a month and then many jumped on the bandwagon of using the Respashy Calcium plus everyday which also contains the d3.I don't know what the concentration of d3 in this as compared to yours though. I don't use any d3 at all as my chameleons are primarily housed outdoors. Before I had the outdoor cages, I would use the d3, but just the recommended dose. I know the Kammers of Kammerflage Kreations use the Repashy Calcium Plus and their chameleons are all beautiful and healthy looking.

I'm not familiar with Sticky Tongue Farms but I do us Repashy Calcium Plus for all my supplementing. The concentration in that is 20,000 IU/lb where the LoD is only 8,000 so you will be fine using the LoD.

Hi carol, i am very interested in a solid answer because mine are inside about 9 months out of the year. I didn't find the concentration of d3 on my calcium plus package, so I then purchased the lo d from repashy(it has a chameleon on the package). So, I then look at the contents and the D3 was double sticky tongues.

Sticky tongues is 4400. And it has been said using that more than twice a month is too much. Confusion sets in once again, lol.

Oh thank you for the breakdown on that NHenn. I think it is Repcal that has like 400,000 or something which is really high. In this case, I would think using it on a daily basis would be harmful. I am glad I live in Florida and don't have to worry about the d3 thing!!

Scott I know what you are saying but I think using it more than twice a month and being harmful really depends on the brand and the concentration. That is just the general advice given on here(twice a month), which does seem to work in keeping our chameleons healthy.

I use the lo-d for my jackson, and then the calcium plus for my panther. Every feeding. My jackson is older and does not eat every single day, but every other day. I think it's probably too much for every day use if you are making the feeders ghost white with it.

You'll never get a rock solid answer on what is correct. Just what is working for this person or that person. I'd ask people specifically from your state. That way you kind of get an idea of what others with your same climate are doing. What works for carol, isn't going to work for you. She is in Florida! Lucky! Lol

Yah I was just curious because I believe Sandra uses the sticky tongues stuff and only does the d3 twice a month, her husbandry standards seem to be a staple around here.

I didn't know that Repcal is that high. I assume most use that twice a month or 800,000 dosage a month. With Calcium Plus, I feed 6 days a week and dust every feed just like the Kammers which would equate to 480,000 a month in total dosage. LoD would then be much lower at 192,000 per month.

I personally support the all in one as I never have seen any problems caused by dusting every feeding in my chameleons. Additionally if it was me taking the supplements, I would want them to match my daily values and take them every day. I wouldn't want to take one giant pill twice a month and just have my body flush the excess amount right through my body. I don't know if that logic works in chameleons but I can't believe there isn't any truth to it.

I,ve used the Repashy rescue cal product for a sick animal and I loved it. It dissolved completely unlike other cal products(no residue/waste) and was very beneficial to the animals health, so I would recmd Repashy
Note: Curious to see all the variation in cal level from one mnf to the next. An eye opener

I think I'm going to try the lo d if Kammers. Uses it it's gotta be alright. I just was looking for a little more insight. Thanks for the input.

I don't think they use it for their panthers. They do sell it though. I bought it from them for my jackson.

I use Repashy Calcium Plus at every feeding with my Kinyongia (fischers). My logic for this is that he isn't a big eater so more often then not, when I do feed, he take his time eating them so in that time (can be a few days) a lot of the dust has fallen off. That is just personal experience.

I have a zoo-med multivitamin I will dust with no more then once a month.

There are also times though where he will eat a lot in a week so I may not dust at all for one feeding.

A key point to remember IMO is that we are supplementing with what the feeders have already been gutloaded with. You don't have to be a scientist but it's a good plan to have an idea of what nutrients are being covered.
