My two cents...

I use it at every feeding. I will dust ten Dubias. Put them in Ben's cup. He doesn't eat them all in one day by the time the Dubias are eaten. The dusting is worn off them pretty much.

He doesn't get anything else but the Dubias are well feed.

I'm sure glad I started this thread. The conclusion is simple. the product varies depending on many different factorfs.How often do the chameleons get real sun during the day, what type of insects get fed, how often the uvb bulbs get switched and what type of bulbs are used. Most important, D3 should not be offered more than twice a week as its toxic to their organs. Its hard to tell the limit of the product depending on all these factors. Thank you all for you wonderful input and opinions. I think I can only learn from experience and with over 800 eggs this year I'm hoping for great results.

im still not clear on this. i have a 3.5 month old panther and i use repashy every day as told by breeders. Shud i cut down? shud i just use repashy twice a month and use reg calcium every day?

it depends on many factors, but ya every day is likely too much, and twice a month may not be enough.

it depends. Only you can decide what works for your situation, for your chameleons situation.
You ahve to consider the brands of supplements you have and what's in each of them, How often is your chameleon outside, having access to natural sunlight and/or the type of UVB lighting, What types of insects/feeders do you provide (some require no supplement on them at all), the gutload matters, and the Age, Gendre and type (species) of chameleon matters.

Try reading the links I gave ya. It's really not all that much to learn, and you'll be much more able to confidently make the right decisions for your particular situation if you do.

or maybe start your own thread, listing all your particular details, so that you can get input relevant to your situation

There are many here that know more than I. jannb, sandrachameleon are two of my favs. I've read many, many posts and even read many statements by Allen Repashy and others. I chose to gutload with Superload and dust with the Calc+ with our second cham when the first failed in only a few months. Rambo is almost two now and we've only dusted with Calc+ all of his feeders. He seems healthy, colorful, alert, active, all of the things you want to see in your cham. I've noticed that some days he doesn't eat as much, others he devours everything. He self regulates, and I think that is part of the importance of what and how you feed. You will/must do your own fact-finding and decide for yourself. Thanks for this thread. It is important that we all review and learn what is/should be changing in cham care. My cham never goes outside during winter and only briefly during warmer months.
Someone made the comment that the 'dusting' wears off during the day. I agree and that lessens what he actually ingests. The % of D3 may be near the recommended 2x monthly amount but I feel that he never gets near what is in there to begin with.
I am always interested in reading other's input as this discussion progresses. And, for what it's worth, I also use ReptAid once a month for parasite control because we never really know what feeders have been through up until we get them.

I'm considering changing vit supplement as vit a in repashy is retinol rather than beta carotene. apparently chameleons can't convert the beta carotene into vit a so sounds like this is the way to go

I too was wondering about how often to use as was worried about overdosing on vit a and d3

I have been involved in many of these discussions and have in the past endorsed cal+ 100%. However, I now feel it is too strong. I am still testing things, but I was only using it on dubia, crix, and supers and I give a huge variety and I still ran into problems after a year of use and feel it is just too strong. I am now using other supplements almost exclusively. Many of you can go ahead and say I told you so if you would like, but I just thought I should update that I have really backed off my support of the product. I also have had a few problems with the new CGD V3.0 ...so something is a miss in Repashy land, or Clark land.

I'm not a breeder or an experienced cham keeper but I do use repashy. My girl gets 2 bugs a day and I use repashy on mondays to dust them. The rest of the time is plain calcium and the bugs have a high calcium, high vit gutlaod all the time.

I also use it for my leopard geckos 3-4 times a week and it works really well for them

mrfixit01 I think the chams which regulate themselves with food intake are the ones who do really well with Calcium Plus.

The ones who did well for me are the ones who would eat one and then go mosey around the cage, bask for a bit, stare at a leaf, go talk with flying horses only they can see (think Luna in Harry Potter) then go find another one to eat hours later when they felt like it and most of the dust wore off, some even skip 1-3 days of eating cause they feel like it.

Yup. I use repashy 50/50 mixed with plain calcium every feeding, to reduce overexposure risk to D3, and throw in a few crickets covered in herptivite throughout the month to cover the decreased vitimins.

That being said:
My chams are 100% indoor this time of year
My chams under arcadia T5HO 6% UVB lights
This schedule is for two adult panthers, fed every other day

What's your opinion on reptaid?

For full disclosure, Elliot gave me a bottle at no charge to try on my own chameleons several years ago.

I like what I see in the ingredients, but I am truly trained in western medicine, with just a fraction of my practice devoted to eastern medicines and herbal supplements. I cannot say that I ever believed it was Reptaid that ever made the case, but I typically still use it along with many other medications and supplements on ADR chams. Some people swear by it, and some don't. I am fairly neutral, certainly believe that it does no harm, and likely has beneficial qualities. But so far I cannot say I have never seen anything but perhaps subtle changes, nothing night or day on my end.

Me personally, no. The bugs are on a high vit diet and I have a good UVB. My girl eats a lot of fruit and green veg too so I think another multi on top of repashy would be too much. I go easy on the d3 because my girl has edema swelling on and off. Although the vets I've seen cant explain it or find anything wrong with her, I believe it's to do with d3.
