Red Runners

So I recently bought around 1500 red runners and I am getting ootheca. I do not have a substrate so wondering if I need to move the ootheca onto something moist or is there generally enough humidity in a roach bin to develop? Furthermore, I am curious if anyone has been using them for a year plus without an infestation? I have them in a gasket sealed box and plan to cup them when I feed out.

People seem to have no issue getting them to reproduce fast in their bins. Being red runners, I doubt it'd matter much. I don't keep them for fear of infestation, but maybe someone else here will share their experiences.
