if a female veiled is receptive does that mean she will lay eggs later forsure?

when they are receptive how long does it last?
( was told 2-3 weeks but is that the longest?)

I have asked the same question myself before - I don't think there is any specific time frame from becoming receptive to laying an infertile clutch. However, once the first clutch is laid they can lay a clutch of infertiles every four months. That was the case with my first female.

Have either of you read the 'Raising Kitty' blog? There is an article in there explaining how to keep females - if kept at lower temps and fed less food then it is possible to prevent them from laying any eggs at all, or at least reducing the size of the clutch. Here's a link: http://raisingkittytheveiledchameleon.blogspot.com/2007/12/keeping-female-veiled.html I have been keeping my latest female like this and so far she hasn't laid any eggs and she is now 18 months old.

With regard to receptive colouring - they usually show bright blue spots. However, my females have always shown these colours in various 'strengths'. Here's a link to a thread that maybe helpful with regard to female colouring: https://www.chameleonforums.com/fyi-pics-receptive-vs-gravid-21227/
