Really Ickly Urates

The temps around here have gone from 60-90 in the last 2 days. Not exagerating So i am trying to make sure they get extra mistings and checking cage temps..Ok so i'm misting my blue bar and he is rewarding me by hissing cause he loves me so much. And all of a sudden he lifts his leg, I swear just like a dog, and goes peepee. No poop at all just pee. It starts off by having a pile come out that has some orange in it, i knew that,hence the extra mistings, but after that came this big glob of " for the lack of a better word, egg-whites". It was very thick and globby, so thick that it actually just hung from the branch for ever and never fell down. Now i know that he is dehydrated by the orange urates, but does this glob thing mean it is really bad? Or is it that i have never watched him go pee before?

Hard to tell without a picture, but my chams urates when they first go and are very fresh have that egg white slime around it. Probably for passage. Anyway, it always dries up quickly and the piece is white. May have a little bit of yellow on it, but mostly white. Sticks to a leaf or branch if that's where they go. Shame....wish they would go in the same spot at the same time every day, wouldn't that be nice?

i've seen it happened to mine.
Just wondering, is this the one that has coccidia? (this is a pure Q. Don't start panicking).
as long as the urate is white, i think dehydration is not your problem.

Being a noob too I have seen this way too much in my Chams...sounds like every one else has this well under control....2 questions though.

1) I heard from many of the posters that you should use warm or hot water for misting or spray the cage....Why?

2) Also need to mist the cage for anywhere from 3 to 5 minutes...why? is that to stim chams to drink?

I just went out side to try the 5 min thing and got "big joe" to drink....girl on the other hand just sits there. She will drink from my dripper....some times from a dropper.

any thoughts...

Could it be the membrane that usually holds the feces together in a normal dropping? Without the feces I imagine the lil sack would look alot like what you are describing.

The reason for the warm water is two fold I think. First it raises the level of humidity fast and keeps up, and second its less of a shock to your cham. The reason for the extended misting sessions is to stimulate drinking as you hinted at. Some chams will take a very long time of being hit with water before they drink, up to 10-15minutes. It may differ between your male and female, as it does with most individuals. Give girl a lil extra time next time you try and see if you get a result. When they are done you will know, they will usually try and hide from the water once they've had their fill.

Thanks. That is what i figured but i wanted to make sure. It isn't like i hang out by my chams cage waititng for them to poop. I just thought it looked sooooo thick and slimmy i didn't know if that was normal. He hasn't been eating so there was no feces.

No it isn't the one with coccidia, that is my w/c NosyBe. This is my b/b. His poop has always been clean but i am so paranoid about this coccidia thing i am having everyone checked again. I sent them in last week and i havn't heard yet.
