Rango, The Chameleon Movie!

My sister sent me a link to this movie trailer about a chameleon who finds himself in the Mojave Desert. He is clearly cartoonized in a funny way so some of his chameleon attributes are a little off, but I can't wait to see it!

What do you think?

There's another one called "tangled" which is a different version of "Rapunzel" and she has a pet chameleon o_O

that tangled movie looks awsome, and the cham in it is hella cute! lol love what it does in the trailer. lol cant wait. rango looks pretty dumb though, he looks like a salamander. lets see if deep can pull this one through too! :D

His chameleon hands are not right.

The danger is where every kid that sees it suddenly wants a "chameleon". I think every movie about a potential pet-type animal should have a disclaimer.

This one should say-"CHAMELEONS-NOT FOR KIDS!"

ah c'mon julirs, dont be so legalistic lol, i think its darn awsome they have a cute little cham in there. and lets face it, when will a child even or ever, recognize a real chameleon? im sure they would alll rather want a toy of it rather than a real one. jmho

i gotta agree with juli... .start including info about animals featured in films so morons don't go out and get one for there 7 year old and thinks they can take care of it....

It'll give a much needed boost to the pet industry... but in all the wrong ways.

I agree. Watch us get THOUSANDS of new member during the time the 2 movies come out

I was totally excited about the movie until you pointed this out. Funny, I know it happens with other animal movies but I didn't even think about little kids and the "I want one" syndrome.

*sigh* It is too bad. But in the end its the "adults caving in to the kids" group that is doing this and thankfully there are also a lot of responsible parents that wont.

--Parent that never EVER bought an "easter bunny" or any "movie pet" for her kids.

There are just too many parents willing to indulge without thinking it through. My parents have always taken the time to educate me about animals and animal care. I just fear with reptiles it is much worse than with dogs. Reptiles are caged and seem that they would need less care. How many times have you heard, "Oh well-it was just a lizard/frog/snake/etc.? People don't seem to value their lives as much.
When I was in Petsmart the other day I saw a 7 year old-ish kid with a Leopard Gecko in a deli cup and my heart sank a little.

what is this? all senior members vs me? lol c'mon guys, cut some slack and stop being so legalistic. its a KIDS movie not an animal planet special, giving animal facts in any animated movie is just bogus and doesnt fit with a story line at all. if you want to get technicall, its a fairy tale chameleon that is resistant to dehydration, mbd, all that bad stuff. we dont even know how much repunzle's pet is featured in the movie! guys... this will not in anywaye boost pet store sales, cuz again, would a child even be able to recognize a real chameleon apart from this little cartoon? would a child even be able to pronounce the lable at a pet store? how often will a child even be in a pet store with reptiles?

did every child go cry and wine to their parents to get them a friggen clown fish when nemo came out? no! but they were sure as hell stoked about a nemo TOY! sorry guys, its hot, and i reallly really dont like how serious some people are on here when it comes to stuff like this.

also too, i realy dont think parents will spoil their kids with 250-500$ setup with animal. realy realy realy, think about it

Actually a friend of my family bought a small saltwater aquarium and clown fish after Finding Nemo came out because there daughter wanted one so badly...It died not to long after.

And as for the 250-500 dollar setup, how many times have you seen impulse chameleon buyers going with the proper setup?

A ten gallon tank, a bowl and heat lamp. Thats little over 20 dollars.

You would be amazed to the extreme some ignorant parents go to spoil (or shut up) their kids.

i agree with you winston, SOME parents are stupid enough to spoil and.or shut their kid up. some parents shouldnt even have kids, just like some people shouldnt have chameleons, but guess what. even adults buy these things and they end up croaking.

i know its a cham forum, and all of us here pledge a legence to the curly tails, but lets face the facts. were never ever going to stop any of these animals from getting into the hands of irresponsible owners. case closed.

on the contray, some kids do have what it takes to take care of. not taking a stab at this member, but isnt stephan (cleanthechameleon) isnt he like 12 or something? ive seen his vids on youtube, and it seems like his rents spoil the cakes out of him. again not taking a stab, cuz he knows how to take care of his guys. not all youngins are irresponsible, and im sure he didnt grab clea after watching a kids movie.

give or take, think what you want. but dont be getting all propaganda on a kids movie cause theres a fake chameleon you guys are concerned about. its sounds really.. i dont know, but come on.

Veiledowner87, you must live in a very different world then I do.

same world julirs just different point of view.. and location lol. i realy appologize for sounding like such an A** to everyone, its just super hot, im cranky as hell and stuff like this i read just irritates me sometimes you know. you guys are my online family lol, i need you all. i can just get carried away in debate sometimes. so sorry :( forgive me?

my view points STILL stand though lol

I guess I do enough rescue and outreach, and work enough shows to hear and see the horror stories.
It is a well studied phenomenon of "Pet themed" movies -particularly dog movies, and the effect of mass breeding to supply the populations resulting in all kinds of issues-deafness in Dalmations, Cocker Spaniels with ear, skin, and eye issues, etc. I have been holding my breath since the Great Dane movie came out.
Let's hope the toys are more appealing.
