random idea

For those of you who have drainage systems, what do you do with all the water you collect? Would it be a bad idea to re-use it? Maybe purify it by boiling and them re filling your dripper or what have you?

Why? This seems completely unnecessary. I would dump it on the yard and get fresh water.

In that case, I would try shorter showers. Buying the distillation equipment and using the energy to boil the water yourself is probably much more wasteful than just dumping out the liter or so of water.

Reuse the water for outdoor plants or your lawn. If in an apartment, use it to wash your rims and bumpers. If no car and an apartment, then.........:(

I used mine to water plants. But I also wondered about that just out of plain curiosity. I thought of something like using an aquarium carbon filter or one of those Brita or Pur pitchers. I never got past thinking about it and decided it was too much trouble and never did anything.

Not completely relevant, but is California a rock in a hard place with the ALS ice bucket challenge going around in the midst of this drought? Was gonna suggest that but then I read your comment.
