Raising flies

How many of you guys use domestic flies as feeders. I purchased some from mantisplace.com. They show me how to hatch and grow them, but off of sugars. I wanted to see if i can feed the flies something healthier then just honey? These will be used to feed chameleons but also to gutload my mantids

You are kinda limited on the gut load.
bee pollen
powdered milk
honey
molasses
fruits
fruit juice
reptile vitamins dissolved in some of the above.

PS: while disgusting to clean, its a good idea to not leave the liquids in a bowl, but soaked into something like a paper towel or cotton ball.
