Rain domes

I am soliciting information regarding rain domes. Specifically the Aquazamp dome.

My plan is to y connect the rain dome pump into my resevior currently used for my mist king system.

I would like to run the rain dome a few minutes/daily and have it set to run for 30/45 min 3 times weekly.

Drainage isn't an issue.

I would like to hear from other owners of rain domes. Tell me how yours is set up.

Thanks,

David

If you already have a mistking you wouldn't need the pump you would just hook it with a Y - It's two misting heads and I think a mistking can run 8 to 10-
I use both a regular misting head and a raindome in my double wide.

I have the Aquazamp system with a rain dome. Currently I only have one chameleon so setup is pretty much the standard setup for these. There's a tube running from inside the 4 gallon reservoir to the pump which sits on top of the reservoir. Then a tube from the pump to the rain dome which sits atop the enclosure. I have mine set to go off 5 times a day for 1-2 min each time (for a panther chameleon). I have occasionally run it for up to 20 min manually, but this is not part of my regular automated schedule. I have never run it longer than this, but see no problem in doing so as long as there is enough water in the reservoir.

I really like the rain effect and I'm guessing my chameleon finds in more natural than a misting nozzle. You really get some nice big drops with this rain dome (you also get some mist)! When the mood suits him, he will sit under the dome and get rained on. Other times he runs from it like I've heard many will run from misting. One perk in my opinion is that big drops of water collect on the screen under the dome after a rain and hang there, available for the cham to drink whenever he pleases. Mine recognizes this and will often climb up for a drink from the screen.

I wish I had more experience with other chams and other misting systems, but this is my first cham and first misting system. I've been really pleased though. Never have anything but white urates!

Let me know if you have any more specific questions.

How much water do you go through in a week. I'll be upgrading my cham into his new home soon. I've been going back and forth between mist king or raindome. I'm leaning towards the raindome because it keeps the water in 1 area. It looks like it gets everything wet from looking at your pictures.

What size terrarium do you have him in?

I used both nozzles and a raindome. I was very happy with both. I went through at least a 5 gallon bucket per week but also as I mentioned in another post, the drainage was far less than what I had with a Monsoon and a dripper. I went with the Aquazamp misting system because the pump supports more nozzles. When I get another cham my goal is to have four nozzles and a raindome. I was very satisfied with the product and the way it worked.

Addicks, I go through about 4 gallons a week give or take. I've never monitored it too closely, but I'd say I refill the reservoir about once a week. The rain dome gets about half the cage completely wet. Basically everything on the half of the cage the rain dome sits gets a good soak. The other half stays fairly dry. Sometimes I think about also implementing a misting nozzle so that the whole cage would get wet (which would be closer to nature), but I would go through more water and it would probably make more overspray that I don't want to deal with. My cham drinks great and the system is working well as is so I am happy for now.

While the rain dome does keep water in one area, there is some overspray. Just fyi.

The cage I have is 24" wide, 16" deep, and 30" high (Kammerflage Forever Cage). A bit on the small side I know. It's the bare minimum for a male panther chameleon and I would recommend getting larger if possible.
