Quick question directed to fellow college students

$600 a semester? I've heard anywhere from $300 to $2000 a semester, but still, $600 is a lot.

Loans loans loans loans loans..

Yeah, I'm hoping they have that at the college I want to go to.

I think I will do a community college and just save ASU for later by chance scholarships from AIMs won't be around. It's cheaper anyways, and you can transfer credits. :p

True, but I plan on borrowing or buying them used. I'm trying to save money wherever possible.

If the books stay the same until I get into college (for the psychology course @ MCC) I am set on books from a friend for free. *crosses fingers*

Syn, you still have AR in high school? That's weird. It stopped after jr. high for me.

You should call Desert Hills HS (the school I went to) they pick kids up from Queen Creek and Florence... I'm sure they go out to AJ as well, but I'm not sure. The bus ride would probably be a long one though... But, no school on Fridays!

About buying books for college... I just went through that whole deal, and it's pretty hard to save significant amounts of money. For example, my math class requires an online text book, which means no buying used and no selling after you're done with it. So, I was out $85 there. Second, my chemistry class requires carbon copy notebooks, which can't be bought used or resold either.

You just can't buy/rent everything used. :( It really sucks. At ASU, you get charged out the ass for EVERYTHING. Just to give you an idea...

Orientation - $150 +$75 per guest (I didn't bring anyone, obviously...)
Milky Way bar from vending machine - $1.75
Chemistry books "bundle" - $206
Loose Leaf Psychology book - $84 (loose leaf means no binding of the pages)

....It goes on and on. Even if you rent books, it's about $35 per book per semester, plus shipping. It adds up really quickly...

If we're all mature enough to keep healthy chameleons as pets, we should be mature enough to speak with integrity and also to not let someone else's words get to us so strongly.

I, personally, think it's ridiculous that a thread gets taken down because people were arguing on it. I mean seriously, how old are we? What is the purpose of this? Sometimes it is good to know why people feel so strongly about something, and it is important to know where others come from in their posts.

Not to lecture everyone on here, because I'm sure you received enough of it growing up, but there comes a time when we all need to forget about what others think about us, and what we think about others. There's no need to make assumptions aloud, and no need to purposely try and make someone else feel poorly.

It's a shame that the posts were manipulated and several were deleted so that newcomers can't get the full picture here.

Edit: manipulated meaning Googlez looks totally innocent and the other members who chimed in were edited out.

Dropping it. Sorry for the hassle, Brad, but I am not sorry for speaking the truth.

No posts were manipulated. If there was a problem, the whole post was removed.

Not sure why I feel the need to post this, BUT, I have done alot of hiring lately-which means lots of interviewing. We are in an economy where I can be very selective, but I don't want to hire people that are way overqualfied. There are lots of college degreed people out there, and yes I look for that, but I also look for personality, AND THE ABILITY TO GET ALONG WITH OTHERS AND NOT PISS PEOPLE OFF. I do not have the time to constantly play referee or psychologist. This said-they sincerely need to gear some college courses to these skills, and then we might not see the arguing or bragging about not paying attention in class.

If you even look at your phone during an interview with me, you are done.

was at work all day (8 to 5) and jsut got back, not surprised all of the posts were deleted.
Julirs, that is a good point for you to state that kind of behavior is just unwanted in many aspects of work and life. I think people misundertood the fact i was saying that college isnt very fun to me, but that doesnt mean im "bragging" and i never meant it that way. One thing i do need to say is that my attitude and behavior is one way in class, whenever i go to interviews my phone is turned off before i even get to the office/place i am being interviewed. So this is what i dont understand people just jump to conclusions that if you acted one way one time, you always act that way. I don't know any one in this world that acts like that. People shouldn't be so quick to judge. Hope my words aren't misconstrued.

lol I love how pissed everyone gets. It is real entertaining.

Personally, I love college. I do not really pay attention to anything going on because all these general education classes are pretty easy. As long as you get good grade then nobody has anything to say.
