Quick question about vitamins & calcium

Hi Everyone,

I have 2 young veiled chameleons (about 4-5 months old) and I give them (dust their crickets), Repti-calcium with D3 every other day, and Reptivite with D3 once a week. Is this too much D3? If so, please let me know how I should do this and what I should use.

Thanks!

Julie

They should be dusted with calcium with out d3 every day and the calcium with d3 twice a month. The multivitamin should also be given twice a month.

The way I do it is Monday through Saturday they get the calcium without d3. Then on Sunday they get the calcium with d3. The next week Monday through Saturday calcium without d3 then on Sunday they get the multivitamin. And I keep alternating the d3 and vitamins every Sunday.

Yes that is way too much D3. As the other reply states calcium with D3 is twice a month and vitamins are only twice a month. The rest of the time just give plain calcium.

You will need to get a phosphorous free and vitamin free (no D3) calcium & mineral powder, such as Mineral-O by sticky tongue farms. This you will use more often than the others. How often you use the D3 product will depend on several factors.

Thanks so much - very helpful. I will get the stuff from Sticky Tongue Farms.

I also read your post about gutloading, and being a newcomer, I've been taking the easy way on this -- just bought a pre-made product for my crickets (Total Bites with Spirulina), and that's all I've been feeding my crickets. I will alternate this with some fresh stuff too, but wondering if its worth it to get the supplement for the insects as well?

Thanks, Julie
