Quick Question about lighting!!

In the picture attached . the light further back is used for basking and raising the temperature of the enclosure. The light towards the front is a 10 uvb bulb. do u think he is getting enough uvb rays with the light at that distance? i noticed the heat generated from the uvb bulb is very minimal especially at that distance. is that normal? also i noticed Charmeleon has been trying to hang upside down under the basking lamp from the top of the enclosure, as if he's trying to get closer. could his temperature possibly be to low? I had a Petco thermometer (temporary) which said his enclosure was 85-90 degrees. last checked a couple days ago because he broke it by tearing it off the wall, causing it to fall to the bottom and break. is it normal for chams to do that even in good temperatures?
also
Im curious, how much should your average fecal test cost at the vets? Im located in california if that matters.

Welcome to the forums! This is a great place to learn about chameleons. What kind of UVB bulb is that? All you said was 10 uvb. How tall is the cage? You really need a digital temp gun. Those thing at Petco are not very accurate. They do sometimes hang on the top of the cage especially when that are younger. I'm attaching my blog below for new keeper. It's how I have been success raising my veileds over the years.

Hello jan! And thank you! Ive been making full use of this forum haha. His enclosure is 18x18x36. 36 being the height. And do u mean what brand is the uvb bulb ? If so i cant tel u at the moment but i also got it from petco. My veiled is already an adult And ive had him about a month already. He doesnt show any signs of being sick or anything and i have him on a good diet. Ive read your article which is totally awesome! And i absolutely do plan on getting my enclosure to tip top shape. But my question would be for the time being. Would a 10uvb bulb give my cham the proper uvb rays from the distance it is at the top of the cage? And im totally getting a infrared thermometer asap. Im also adding pathos (for better water access after misting) and a bigger enclosure. ^.^ the pathos should be in by tomorrow

Most keepers use a 5.0 on a cage that size so with a 10.0 he should be getting enough UV with the light up off the top of the cage like that but there's really no way to know for sure without a UV meter.
