Questions about the mistking!

I have two questions!

1. Is it possible to use store bought tubes and such to make a starter mistking work with another chameleon cage? I'm thinking of buying the mistking and I know I'll eventually get another chameleon (panther) and want to be able go have the mistking to hook up to 2 total cages.

2. What is a good price range/ offer to give someone on a used starter mist king?? I'm so bad with offering people.

A quick word of caution with purchasing just general tubing from Home Depot. I know the mistking pumps are capable of producing some high psi in the lines and most of the tubing at Home Depot are only rated for very low pressure. I haven't tried using any of the tubing at Home Deport because of this. I wouldn't want to come home to a flood because the line broke.

I assume someone has used the tubing before so they might be able to say if it works fine or not.

Good point. I read about someone using it here, on a post, but haven't personally tried it. I had plenty of left over tubing from my AZ and MK setups, so I didn't need to buy any. I have used the drip irrigation heads, and they don't blow off the tubing. I'll have to see if I can dig up the post I read, maybe they'll have more info.

To be perfectly honest, for the extra $30 dollars, I'd buy a new one. That way you get the tubing, and the peace of mind that it's brand new.

I agree. The starter kit comes with a lot of goodies and you will know it will work perfectly. for $50 I would give it a shot as long as you know it works but for 70-80 I would just buy a new one.

It's actually an extra $30 on top of that for shipping. :( But the peace of mind and warranty might be worth it.

I don't even know what all the parts would look like! He could hand me half of what I need and I wouldn't even know. xD I think the guy is just trying to get 99% of the money he put into this chameleon and supplies, but I guess who wouldn't want that?

&& How much would a good offer be for the better, higher up mistking? The deluxe or ultimate I think its called? I saw someone selling one about a month ago and I didn't even give him an offer.... :(

Josh's Frogs has the starter mistking setup , they're out of them right now, and the shipping will be a lot less than $30. I bought from them on ebay, and the shipping was $5.99

The mistking ultimate package goes for $189 on Josh'sFrogs. Don't know if it's worth it, or not. I only have 2 chameleons, so it'd be overkill for me, and costs more than I'd want to spend.

I have been using tubing from the HD meant for ice makers with my mistking. It's working fine. Regardless of the tubing, you have to be SURE the tubes are set really well into the collets... I had to learn that the hard way twice! The only thing I don't like about the HD tubes is that they are clear, which means gunk growth inside the line. I am actually going to purchase some more black tubing from MK to replace because of this.

Nice to know I can use other tubes, thanks lathis!

Wow! Only $6! That'd surely be worth the extra $30..

The guy also has a whole cage 24x24x48, lights (uvb and regular), vines, a plant, the mist king, small dripper, 2 wooden ladders to climb on and looks like a fake vine. Was hoping to get a better deal if I bought everything. He said all for $150.. he won't go any lower.. Doesn't seem like a good deal to me. D: I really need the mist king and he has a UVB with the tube bulb that I'd like to use instead of the regular UVB bulb lamp I'm using now. Anyone know how much they originally cost?

Then again, $50 for the mistking $50 for the cage, that'd be $100 right there.

I have a random question. What does holdback male mean?

I use 1/4 inch tubing from lowes. I can say the clear tubing has popped off before so now I only use the black sturdier tubing and haven’t had a single issue. I also find it easier to just change out the tubing rather than try to clean it, so I buy the tubing every so often and change it out. I also use it when I make modifications or want to add to more cages.
