It has been 11 days since my female starting throwing off her sexual maturity colors Pics here: https://www.chameleonforums.com/cleopatras-new-color-62207/.
I have read up on it and feel confident enough about the ordeal but it is my first time and I want know how things should go. The laying bin is all in place but I was curious if there is a sort of general timeline that females tend to follow when going through this phase?
Firstly, Which happens first? Receptive or gravid? Do colors change from one step to the next? How long could I anticipate the timeline from first showing the colors until she lays eggs? Can you be in one state without the other? Meaning she may be receptive but not gravid or vice versa?
I have no intentions of breeding her anytime soon unless I find a sexy blue bar ambanja in the future.
She has a lot of privacy as she is in my bedroom. I have read stories of females not using laying bins because they were spied upon. Would it be best to maybe cover the cage some? So when I am in my room on the computer or what not, she doesn't get freaked out by seeing me peek at her during this time? (she hates me guts...I love her so but I don't want to scare the eggs to stay in her)
It's going to be an exciting next few weeks and I am pulling for my little girl, I hope she does well. What is the time frame from the end of this cycle to the beginning of the next? Is it somewhat predictable? I been keeping tabs on her weight since I got her but my scale battery has died mid June and I havn't weighed her since.
