Question to about screen to use, and ventilation.

So my dad and I are making a big curio cabinet into a cage for my veiled Oscar. I was wondering if there is a special kind of screen to use for the cage.

My second question is since 3 out of the 4 sides of the cabinet are wood, if it would be ok to make the front all screen and leave the 3 other sides wood and have the top being screen? Would this be plenty of ventilation?

The type of screen is up to you. I usually use the charcoal colored aluminum window screen available at Lowes or Home Depot. Some people prefer to use 1/4" PVC coated hardware cloth so there is no risk of the nails getting caught and ripped out. If you choose hardware cloth you will have to cup feed and even then you will probably have to deal with escaped bugs from time to time.

As for only the front and top being screen, that is all you really need. Having those two sides will allow for enough air flow to keep your Cham happy and healthy.
