Question re: drinking..

I have been a little worried about my most recent cham I got. I havent seen him drink much at all. I saw him drink a little the first week I had him and then nothing since. I installed a mist king and have that go off every few hours.

So just before I decided to run some water thru the dripper. After a few minutes he finally showed some interest and made his way over. My question is, how normal is it for them to "shoot" the water. The two chams I had previous to my current guy both b lined for the water vine as soon as they saw it dripping and would literally go right up to the hose and just drink. They were a little older than this one.

I am relieved to actually witness him drinking. Just hoping he is getting enough. I actually moved the hose closer to him but he was still shooting. His urate is still white, but I thought I noticed his eyes just a tad sunken. But I am really thinking I was just overreacting and looking too hard. He seems fine in every other aspect, active during the day, eyes are always moving, nice and green and eating plenty.

what do you mean by 'shoot'?
im not super experienced but from what ive learned it seems like we're lucky to see them drink very much at all. oftentimes they drink when we arent looking in on them! thats why the dripper is great because you fill it up and allow it to drip so that the chams have ample opportunities to drink i also think if his urates are still white then hes probably drinking plenty without you seeing him. but like i said im not super experienced this is just my opinion based on everything ive learned from all the amazing people here on the forum and from my experience with my cham!

Sorry, I thought saying " shoot" wouldve been self explanatory. I mean with his tongue, like he was eating.

my cham did that! he would shoot his tongue out to collect water off the sides of his viv and then he would also come up to the leaves and lick droplets off the leaves i think thats normal

mine was also a purty little guy when he did this so maybe once they get older they stop doing it but i think its purty normal for a young one to do
