Question on Materials

I plan on getting a Juvenile Veil in the next couple weeks but wanted to first start setting up his home. This is what I'm getting so far but more will be on the way as I do some more purchasing tomorrow I was just wondering if some of the more experienced Cham owners on here have any stipulations to the materials I'm getting so far. Any insight would be much appreciated. Thank you. My only big question is should the 60W light bulb be a regular incandescent bulb or should it be a 60W basking bulb since they have both and I haven't found a for sure answer to this question?

Reptarium - 38 gallon 16.5"X16.5"X30"

JurassiDiet Gut Load for Crickets & Other Prey Items - 100 gram

Rep-Cal Calcium - Original with vitamin D3 - 5.2 oz

Rep-Cal Herptivite 3.2oz

Repta Sprayer - 16 oz

Terrarium Moss - (30 Gallon)

Repta Sun 5.0 UVB - 18"

Reptarium SofTray - 38 g Long

Reflector Dome 5.5 Inch

Exo Terra Sun Glo 60 Watt - A19

I killed the moss out I don't know why i had that in there. I was talking with Mike from FLChams and I mentioned to him getting the calcium without D3 he said not to worry about that, that it's only for Cham's that are raised outside. And he said since the little guy won't be in any type of a huge cage that a mist system would be overkill and just to spray the cage down will good twice a day. The plants I'll pick up from home depot as well as the vines. This is just materials I'm ordering online tonight. The spray bottle is being ordered from the site as well. Actually I'll probably get 2 of them.

My biggest question is what would be a good fixture to use to support the ReptiSun 5.0 UBV bulb? I can't seem to find one on http://www.reptilesupply.com

might i suggest that you get something for drainage? it seems to be a common problem with all the mistings for water to build up or get everywhere... i personally use a towel under everything (at the very bottom) during the misting and use it to wipe excess pooling water when i'm finished. there are a lot more elaborate things out there but i perfer it simple.

also, how old is you chameleon gonna be when you get him/her? they're so cute when they're little!!

i would make sure to thoroughly wash the plants and repot them too... what kind are you planning on using? be sure not to mistake philodendrons for pothos! i almost made that mistake when in the home depot garden centre. i thought "wow this thing is quite pretty with the reds" and went home to do some research and found that its quite poisonus if eaten...
sounds good what you have so far! are you planning on using greens as well as gutload? it's the best :)

That's a good thought DarkRapture, I hadn't put too much thought into the drainage problem but I'm glad you brought it up. For the cage I'm getting the reptarium soft tray for the bottom. I'll probably take up your idea of using towels seeing as that would be the best option for absorption.

The little guy will be approx. 4 months old and coming from Mike at FLChams as soon as I get everything setup and running smootly, especially the temps and humidity.

I was planning on getting a Ficus as that seems to be the most popular plant used by Veild Cham owerns. And yeah I read it's best to take the plant home, de-pot it, wash it off really well and take it into the shower and rinse it off really well with some warm water and a little soap and rinse and rinse and rinse some more. lol. Yeah I'll probably use the collard greens, I'm still unsure of what's the best to use besides carrots and maybe some brocolii. This is all new to me so I'm doing as much research as I can. I figured this would be the best place to continue my search for details as I can get some insight from all of you who already own the little fellas. Thx again for the all the help.

Kevin.

She's totally right, drainage is a big issue which I couldn't find a lot to read about. It's best if you don't have to move the cage to drain all the water.

Also for the gutloading, this recipe was recommended by where I got my chameleon
