Question on how to heat feeder tubs

As the temp is getting cooler, I need to warm the cricket and Dubia tubs some to keep them breeding. I cannot use a regular heating pad as they all have auto shot off mechanisms which does me no good.

Can I use one of the Exo Terra heat mats but NOT stick it on the tub, rather lay it below the tub and lift the tub up about 1-2" above it?

Any thoughts here would be appreciated.

Thanks!

In that case I'd suggest a heating cord to just place around the tub. I have no experience with this, but it just seems more logical in that situation.

You can find the pads w/o the auto shut off. I have a couple of them. If your house burns down, I am not responsible... ;)

I just use the medium exo terra heating mat. It stays around 90 degrees, and I have used them for years. They work great at keeping the temps hot enough for my Dubia colony.

Thanks for the response. Do you attach it to the tub directly or do you have the tub raised up some so it is not in direct contact?

My heat pads have lost thier stickiness, but i let them sit under the tub touching the tub directly. And hey no fires...yet.:D

I have small pre-pack tubs. I put a tea towel on the radiator & then place the tubs on top. At the moment they seem to do well with just a blast of heat a couple of times a day.
