question about senegals

Is it possible for a senegal to have an enclosure that is too big? I have one that I rescued from a shelter after he was taken from a hoarder and I got him a big enclosure - a large reptibreeze and filled it with umbrella plants just thinking he would really enjoy the space but he spends most of his time in one or two spots . . .

I've checked the temperature and it is fine throughout the cage . . . I just don't want him to be stressed out if he would prefer something smaller . . .

I seem to have stumbled into a fairly unusual species to be kept as I can't find very much info about senegals at all online - versus what I can find on say panthers and veileds . . .

Anyway, if he would be happier I could always trim his plants and put them in a smaller cage . . . I'm going to get a baby panther soon and so I can save this great big cage for him when he grows up . . .

bigger is always better when housing chams.
and honestly, hes probably used more of the cage than you realize.
they normally sleep in the same spots, and bask in the same spots.
they can bask for up to 8 or more hours a day. spread thorughout their 12 hour on light cycle.

Ok - great - thanks! I just don't want to be stressing him out at all - he's had a bad enough life so far . . . I want him just to be happy with me :)

if you want something to be happy with you, you picked the wrong animal!
they are grumpy, territorial, moody, demanding, and addicting.

but as far as the cage goes, if he shows no signs of stress, lethim have his space.
not to mention, if you JUST put him in that cage within the last week or so, hes still getting adjusted and may not roam as much.
