Question about real sun light.

I live in az and this time of year I'm VERY limited on outside sun time due to temps. My question is, does the Cham need direct sun light to benefit? Can it be indirect? For instance if I can have him outside under the porch it will extend my window for possible outside time. Thanks

Even in the shade there is more UVb than a UVb bulb. It is fine to have him on the patio.
