I have an abundance of Pothos plants but i dont put them in soil they grow great in like jars of water or in just plain water? i dont think iv ever seen a potted pothos but i have seen them in just water my question is can i put a pothos in soil or whatnot i want to hang from the top of my enclosure and im wondering if i would do it in water or soil?

I would think you could use both methods okay. If using water, I would make sure you have a narrow opening, so food items like crickets can't fall in and foul water.( not a nice smell ) I use hanging plants in my outdoor enclosures. With plastic hangers perferred over the wire ones in picture.

I love the way you hang your parsons pothos. ;)

They will root in water crystals too, that way if something does sneak into your container it won't drown and stands the chance of escaping.

I'm thinking baby food jar with a hole drilled just large enough for the stem and then filled with water crystals.

I bought one plant and put about 5 leaves one in each separate pot plant with organic soil about 6 months ago and they are all growing and doing well. I didn't even think to put it in water, good to know. :)

I've personally used both methods, and either way the plants will grow prolifically. My experience was that the ones that grew in water actually grew quite a bit faster. Whichever way works better for your setup is the way to go.

either medium is fine initially. As the plants mature however they may require more nutrients than plain water provides. You could either add nutrients to the water to keep them going or just go with soil which is what i do personally. I root in water w/ vit B then once rooting has started switch to soil. Suchhh a low maintenance species... My friend once grew a pathos clipping in a cup of h2o in his bathroom with no outside light just the florescent blubs in his fixture that were off and on all day for months!!!

i have had good sucess with growing potho's in water. you can make some really cool displays with some PVC pipe, you need to put something in the water so the roots can get a sure grip and your plant doesnt go flying out spraying water everywhere. i used lava rock as it has large holes that the roots can grow into. its actually what im planning on making when i build a big cage for my panther. you can add fill and drain lines in the PVC to make water swaps easy. looks good and very lot maintenance.
