Question about our female veiled....

Our female veiled is currently laying eggs but she's not digging in her bin. She is just laying them on top. We have a proper bin with the right sand. Hubby had tested it & our other veiled's bin and they both can dig holes and it will stay if they want.

I thought they always dug holes to lay their eggs. Why is she doing this. We are trying to stay out of the room so we don't bug her. Is there anything special we need to do for her?

It's often not good news when they don't dig a hole and lay the eggs in it. It could be she doesn't like something about the laying site or she could be having reproductive issues...hard to say. You could try digging a hole and putting her nose in it. What supplements do you use and how often for each? What do you gutload/feed her insects with? How much do you feed her?

We feed her crickets & superworms. I dust the crickets with calcium every couple feedings. The crickets are gutloaded. I feed them cricket food plus veggies. All our animals are fed well. Jane seems fine, doesn't look stressed or anything. The 2 eggs that were in the cage that we have found seem fine & healthy as far as I can tell.
