Question about mesh cages

We currently have the x-large reptibreeze enclosures for our chams but I'm wondering if there's a better brand available? Perhaps a mesh or metal screen that doesn't 'give' when pressure from branches is applied? Something similar to what rabbit enclosures are made of? We have a really HUGE cham who can't navigate very well on the mesh sides and because he's so heavy, the sides don't sustain the branches (with him on it) very well. Are there any suitable alternatives to reptibreeze?

Lots of people like metal screen cages and lots of people make their own cages with polyester or metal screens. You might check in the Enclosures forum for some more concrete thoughts.

Sponsor DIY has nice screen cages and their prices inc. shipping. All cages come with handles and actual latches for locking. Much nicer than other alternatives Ive used. They have new versions that can be wall mounted. And I absolutely love their double flourescent fixtures w/built in reflector. Great quality for a low price on those. Thank you! Are the sides FIRM where the screen is? Not like this flimsy mesh from reptibreeze.. I want solid siding.

Screen is a lot firmer than the mesh.

There are ways to suspend vines and such from the PVC pipes that support the Reptibreeze, but I have to admit, for a solid body chameleon, that mesh might be hard to climb. My little guys love it, but I can imagine the problem.

The xl reptibreeze has a serious design flaw
The bottom panel is only attached by pins, not screws. The cage is very flimsy, even for small young panthers
My 7 mo old escaped for the 2nd time today by simply pushing the doors, it pops open. He is a small, light cham and does it easily
For a larger Cham, you will need a better made cage. I contacted zoomed, they know its a flaw, but have no plans to fix the design.

I agree, this is a big flaw. Mine pop out if i apply quite little force. I think I'll have to come up with a fix for this somehow for when my Chams are bigger.

this is exactly the issue we are having with branches causing the bottom pins to pop out. then the entire cage becomes off center.

Both the LLL cages and the DIY cages have screen not mesh. Both are far superior to the reptibreeze in quality of construction. I use both brands personally. Each one has its flaws and good points but both are an upgrade over what you have now. The best cages are always homemade ones. But with as many as I have I cant be building that many cages. If i had only one or two I'd build my own out of nice wood and stain it and make a nice drainage system.

While your checking out cages check out www.cages.net .He can build you any size or shape,you pick what side the door in on, from many diffrent materials. He uses awesome screen in his cages . I think he has decent prices as well

Is he making cages again? Every time Ive called I get a woman who said he wasnt building any at that time? She was kinda rude too.
