Question about going out of town

Hey, I am a new chameleon owner and was wondering what you guys do when you are going out of town for like 2 days?

We have a family friend pet-sit for us.
All the pets get looked after by one person who listens well and follows instructions and isn't squeamish about bugs. ;)
Good Luck.

2 days? 5 days? Barring baby chameleons, I just leave them. The veileds seem to appreciate the time I'm not there. The melleri are always happy when I return.

Give them a good feeding and heavy watering before you leave, and as long as temps are moderate, hmidity ok, they'll be fine. They're reptiles, they're fine with it. I only stress when it's a week or more.

Got a misting system? They'll be fine for weeks. I don't let them go more than a week, but they'd be fine. If you're worried, have someone come by and feed/water them in after 2-3 days, and they'll be perfectly fine for another 2-3 days.

I agree, but I also leave a feeding cup with crix in my cage. I make sure the crix have access to food too so they aren't climbing on the cham, and they are usually fine. Just make sure you leave a mister or dripper and you should be good to go!

Another thing I usually do for week long trips - I put a bowl filled wiht superworms in the cage. The bowl is situated that the superworms have a few hiding spots, and will be safe some times, but not all (usually throw in some pieces of plastic that can't be ingested by the chameleon.). This way, they don't get them all on day one.

This is a good topic. We are leaving for the whole day Saturday and I was worried about misting them since I do it 3-4 times a day. They also still wont cup feed and most of the feeders I place in front of them either scare them or fall off the vine and disappear...

2 Days is fine to have a dripper and just give a few extra crickets than normal, chams are better off alone n e ways, as long as they have water and food :)

I always have someone come by if its more than two days, but we have other beasties, mail to take in, etc. I've had at least seven different people over the past six years (am at a university, where the population tends to have a very high turnover with people graduating, moving to new jobs, etc.) and have never had any trouble; I generally write out a care sheet before I go.
