quad closing his eye

My male quad may have got his eye poked or somthing. he hes been keeping it closed, i gave him a good 15 min shower but still didnt open it. he will open it to focus on food to shoot but closes it right away. after i put him into his cage after the shower he opened it a few times and rubbed it on a branch. i went back 10min later and he was just sitting with it closed again. when it is open it looks fine no build up or anything. if he has poked it would he just keep it closed for a day or two?? Not a problem I have had before, any ideas appreciated.

Hi Laurie,

it seams that your cham's eye could be damaged resulting of an high dose of UV radiation. I've had the same problem years ago. You need a salve with ingredients of vitamin A. Used two times per day directly below cham's eyelid.
In Germany the salve called "REGEPITHEL" from ALCON pharmacy.
Normally it will works perfectly and your cham will be great after a few days of applications. Very important is to protect your cham strictly against high UV radiation output during using this medicine. Which bulbs do you use for illumination?

Somehow I don't think that is it. I have used the same type of bulbs for years and I monitor them with a meter. I am rinsing it with saline and will ask my vet if I should try terramicin. I think he scratched it during his shed. Thanks for the ideas, I may try to locate that salve, it sounds like a good item for my cham medicine chest.

if he is rubbing the turret, i would think something is irritating the eye. im sure you will figure this out good luck with the situation let us know what comes of it.
