Pygmy love?

I was inspired by another thread. So I have these two pygmies; one male and one female. The female, Stubby, has not been doing well. She closes her eyes throughout the day and doesn't move or eat on her own. She was separated from the male because of this, but he managed to get over the barrier the exact day that I found her laying on her side with her tongue out seemingly dead. He walked over to her and started to gently squeeze her skin in his front feet and he would move to different spots after a few squeezes. She pulled her tongue back in after a minute or two of the squeezing and then he stopped. He then continued to wedge himself under her and pushed her up and stayed by her side to 'help' her. Now, several days later, I find him periodically coming back to her to seemingly 'check up' on her. She seems better with him in the same cage, so I left them together. Now what do you guys think?

I have never heard of such a thing but I do know that "families" like to be together. Since my 2 females died my male is so lonely. He doesn't act like he did with the ladies around. He used to check up on them daily and sit beside them sometimes sleeping next to them.

I can't wait to find him some companionship.

That's crazy how he did that to her, I would leave them together so he could be there for her the whole time. I hope she gets better

My male has been there and done that before he passed away. RIP Payton...and even separating them didnt work lol. Wish you the best.

PS-What was this thread that inspired you? lol

That was on my birthday on Sunday and it was one of the scariest and cutest things I've ever seen my chameleons do.

Do you know what it was that prompted your male to react that way to a female? Was one of them poorly?

It was the thread about the ousties.

Lol i just read that thread after this. Very touching.

Nope. To this day i have him no idea why he did that. When she happened he was really healthy and fine. Then she started rejecting him, and he slowly started going downhill and eventually died. He started to show signs of not finishing sheds(which he had no problems with before), falling off branches onto the bottom of the cage, become weak and would only hunt for 1 cricket. It was a mess

Update on Stubby: after 3 days of being in the exact same spot she ventured out to a new one (10" away!!!) She accepted crickets today and drank a lot from a pipette. She seems better than before, but keeps her bad eye closed often. Little Olive (the male) keeps checking up on her and sometimes they sleep together.

It was very cute. I didn't think that they would do that at all. Today my panther also climbed onto my hand voluntarily for the first time today. :) Today is full of good things.

My PYGMY'S

I have four witch one of them has turned blackish to dark brown and my little one is doing the same eye's shut and not eating if any one can help me with this i would be verey happy to here from you thank nice story to:confused::confused:

Well, I have no idea what's wrong with Stubby, but she does seem to appreciate it when I rinse her eye out with a gentle saline solution (like for people) with a small syringe with the needle on for a very fine flow of saline. Of course be very very very carefull if it has the needle on it. I rinse hers until her turrets fill up then she rubs her eyes on my finger (which I hold close to her so she has easy access to it.) she then opens her eyes for an hour or two. I do that about twice a day. Then every other day I hand feed her crickets/dubia/small supers/silkies/etc with tongs. She usually will readily open her mouth when I push the bugs to her snout/mouth. All the bugs are well gutloaded and freshly killed so none can hurt her/whip around and freak her out. I feed the equivalent of 3-4 two week old crickets every other day. I also hand water her after misting with a pipette. She's a very good drinker and readily accepts water from me. She also seems to like to go for a stroll on my fingers after I water her. She's adorable :)

Unfortunately Stubby is not doing very good. She is once again in the dirt with her tongue out, seemingly dead. She closed her mouth when I touched her, but soil was all over her tongue. I moved the male a little closer to her and he put his foot on her.

That is very sad to hear :(

Im so sorry for your loss

Sound like you have a gentleman Pygmy there :) very sweet.

Marlow doesnt seem very interested in Mini, but he always moves when she moves so he can see her
