kinda looks female to me. Not saying for sure but can u get a shot of his back feet to make sure he has spurs? veil looks small and theres a glare so i cnat see if he has a bulge on his tail.

indeed does have spurs!... every consider getting a hanging pothos plant and hanging it from a hook installed in your ceiling? or making some sort of free range? when my chams get grumpy it chills em out to hang up there for a while. How old is he and how long have you had him?

I got him from a pet store 3 days ago, so he is still adjusting to us, they couldnt tell me how old he was but guessed he was between 4-6 months, Camimom thought he was a couple months old judging by the pic on my avatar. I suggested getting him a big planthe could chill out on in the house, but the hubby said to give him time to calm down and get used to us and see if he still needs it. As far as shedding goes could be, havent had him long enough to know yet, I know my snake gets grumpy when shes about to shed...

Well that sums it up. give him at least 2 weeks. I have a 6 month veiled (or thats what i was told) and hes much bigger. He also would not eat or drink in front of me untill about 3 days ago and its been a good 4 weeks since ive had em. Just give him time.

New chameleon = pissed chameleon haha. Also I notice the higher the enclosure site the happier mine is. Mine seems much happier hanging out above head height (over 6ft)

On a side note, that purple color is pretty cool looking.

Yeah new=upset, but he was nice happy green the first day and a half... but yeah the purple is prett I just dont want him to be unhappy...if purple was his happy color it'd be great cause he is very pretty this color. His cage is on a stand that is about 3 feet off the ground. When his custom cage is built he will be higher...

Something could have set him off... Weird sound? I will second Millerman that it takes time and each act different to new surroundings. I am suprised that you are able to hold him. I have a veiled and have for a couple of months and he just hisses at me. No touching.

Pasquell has never hissed and will eat worms out of my hand, he's pretty friendly even while purple he still seems to want out and about, and when he does come out hes happy to climb my arms, shirt, hair etc...

That is great!!! Make sure to keep the handling to a minimum. The more you handle them the more stress is caused. Chams are more for looking at. That part is up to you though... Does he have enough hidding spots in his enclosure? He may just be getting used to his new home or not enough places for hidding. Just a thought.

It is a cool purple though..

Most chams are territorial and when they see something invading their territory (your hand) they can be nasty. Once out of their territory they mellow out. You can put a fake tree in front of their cage to lure him out and once in the tree he should be easier to deal with. My boys (all except one who is coming up to a year now) are used to coming out and once the door is opened will check out to see if they are going to be fed or taken outside. If they dont see the feeding cup they will come forward looking for my hand knowing it is outside time.
